Checking Your Smoke Detectors

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

RMG would like to remind residents that maintenance of "...internal smoke alarms are leaseholders' responsibility and cannot go through service charges or involve RMG."

Most domestic smoke alarms need to be tested regularly and the whole unit should normally be replaced every 10 years. For more information and advice, please see the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service website and the RMG Fact Sheet below.

RMG maintains and regularly tests the smoke detectors in the communal areas (eg hallways and stairwells) and central block alarms. Any costs associated with testing and maintaining the block fire alarm system are passed back to leaseholders via the Service Charge.
