Proposals to replace the failing resin-bond surface around the Flagstaff Green Pond with paving were approved by GBC were approved 31st March 2022.
The proposal to replace the failed resin-bond pathway around the pond with flagstones was submitted to GBC on 14th February. A planning application was required for this change to the appearance of the pond because Flagstaff Green is a Locally Listed Garden, within the Royal Clarence Yard Conservation Area.
Details of the proposal are available in the Design and Access Statement on the GBC Planning Portal (ref 22/00084/FULL), together with responses during the public consultation.
The reason for the proposed change was stated to be: "The upgrade in materials will improve the durability of the pathway and ensure repeated, costly repairs are not recurrent. It will also improve the overall appearance of this area by removing the ability of the pathway to break up and spread across the garden and into the pond."

We wait to hear from RMG how they propose to proceed and a timeline for these works.
